1 Posh Place ~ in The Currituck Club

This year it is Matilda's turn to be in charge of the annual Westerhoven family vacation. Mother Westerhoven expected a full report from Matilda at the next Sunday dinner. Yikes ... Matilda knew that although Mother Westerhoven expected the best she also expected a bargain and was known to pinch pennies. So Matilda had her work cut out for her.

Last year, they went to Atlantic City and they will never do that again. Too crowded, too commercial and too expensive. This year, everyone wanted to spend time at the house they stayed in, with no need to eat out every night, lots to do and see and in a good location.

Matilda had heard about a wonderful resort in Corolla, North Carolina (pronounced Kuh-Rawl-Uh... unless you want to spend your vacation in the back of a small Japanese car). It was called The Currituck Club and was supposed to have very nice homes, be very safe, clean and offer lots of amenities.

She went online (thank God for Google) and found that Village Realty manages most of the homes in The Currituck Club. She went to their website (very nice) and searched. In fact she made a list and then went back to the website several times, determined to make the right choice.

She needed: 4 bedrooms, at least 2 full baths, a hot tub and if at all possible and affordable a private pool. The house had to have a No Smoking Policy and be pet free because Father Westerhoven was very allergic.

Hmmm ... This one was not on the website a few days ago and looked interesting. It was in The Hammocks section of The Currituck Club ... good. Four bedrooms, three full baths and one half bath, great. Yes! There was a pool and a hot tub and if the kids wanted to socialize they could also go to the community pool. No smoking, no pets allowed. So far so good. She had not looked at the price yet...hoping it was affordable.

Matthew, Matilda's husband loved to cook out and woo-hoo there was even a gas grill. The boys would love the basket ball goal and taking the trolley to the beach. Outside shower, great. Garage! Matt would be happy.

Now for the moment of truth, Matilda looked at the price (already thinking that she would have to rent linens and towels, make the beds) but NO, the price included all bed linens and bath towels and even the beds were made before check in. In fact the rate included everything except NC taxes and the optional trip insurance.

Click, enter, done. She booked the week she wanted. The End. 1 Posh Place here we come!

Moral: It takes a Village to make your vacation great.
